I’m guessing this has a relationship to ZWave installation issues on Creator and following this guide? https://github.com/matrix-io/matrix-malos-zwave

I was also trying to set up my Matrix Creator to expose the Zwave “layer” for my homeassistant I am setting up. Much of my config in that guide had already done, so these were the steps I was following:

➜  homeassistant
[    0.942412] hub 1-1:1.0: USB hub found
➜  homeassistant sudo apt-get install matrixio-zwave-utils

@Chozandrias,

Is ZWave working for you?

There was a kernel issue with the latest Linux kernel 4.19 that was preventing it from working properly.

Best,
Samreen

I’m about to compile https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/tree/rpi-5.5.y but I guess I should ask if there is a Kernel version you would recommend? I figure you would know more about this kind of stuff

I was finally able to make some progress, but I’m afraid Linux 4.20 didn’t seem to work with this so far:

Should I keep trying builds or is this something that still needs to be resolved?

@Chozandrias,

Apologies for the delayed response.

The ZWave kernel issue came up when the Linux kernel got updated to 4.19. I’m not sure if downgrading Linux kernels from there would result in ZWave working again because I don’t know if all the kernel modules can be rolled back. This is something I would have to test.

I saw on your other post that you got smart lights working with home assistant. Is that using WiFi?

Best,
Samreen

I got the Zigbee controller working. I haven’t got it routed through MQTT though. I’m back on 4.19.118-v7l+ now.
