Asoundrc reverting

#1

So I have the matrix setup and running google assistant. Thanks for the easy tutorial on that.
My issue is that on occasion after reboot the asoundrc file seems to revert. I have to go back into it and setup the values correctly. Any idea why this is happening?

thanks!

Hi @dwoods,

Are you talking about the contents of this file? If so, what part gets reverted?

its the .asoundrc file in my pi home directory. Essentially the contents go from

pcm.!default {
type asym
capture.pcm “mic”
playback.pcm “speaker”
}

pcm.mic {
type softvol
slave {
pcm “array”
}
control {
name “MicArray Master”
card 0
}
}

pcm.speaker {
type plug
slave {
pcm “hw:0,0”
}
}

pcm.array {
type plug
slave {
pcm “hw:2,0”
}
}

to

pcm.!default {
type hw
card 0
}

ctl.!default {
type hw
card 0
}

It hasn’t happened again the last two days. Just curious what could change that files values without me editing it.

Thanks!

Hi @dwoods,

I haven’t actually encountered that before myself, and am not quite sure what may be causing it!

If the problem persists, can you let me know the exact steps you followed, including if you are using a fresh install of Raspbian Stretch, and what other dependencies/libraries/services you may have installed, before setting up google assistant?

I will try to replicate the issue, and troubleshoot from there.

Best,
Samreen
