MATRIX Kernel Modules <> Linux Kernel 5.4 Issue > Downgrade to 4.19

Hey all,

If you’re having issues with the MATRIX kernel modules due to incompatibilities with the latest Linux kernel 5.4, I would recommend following the steps below to temporarily downgrade to Linux kernel 4.19.118.

cd ~/

wget -q --show-progress -O "rpi_kernel_4-19.deb" http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/pool/main/r/raspberrypi-firmware/raspberrypi-kernel_1.20200512-2_armhf.deb

wget -q --show-progress -O "rpi_kernel_headers_4-19.deb" http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/pool/main/r/raspberrypi-firmware/raspberrypi-kernel-headers_1.20200512-2_armhf.deb

sudo apt purge raspberrypi-kernel-headers

sudo apt install ./rpi_kernel_4-19.deb

sudo apt install ./rpi_kernel_headers_4-19.deb

sudo apt-mark hold raspberrypi-kernel

sudo apt-mark hold raspberrypi-kernel-headers

sudo reboot

Then, to install the MATRIX kernel modules, follow the steps here.

Our engineers are making progress with updating the MATRIX kernel modules to work with Linux kernel 5.4 and we will let you know when it is good to go.

Thanks for your patience and let us know if you have any questions.

Best,
Samreen
