My config:
Raspberry pi 3B+, Matrix Voice, Raspbian 9 Stretch. (New install after format).

I had::

record

/etc/asound.conf
etc_asound_conf

/etc/snips.toml
etc_snips_toml

matrix-mics.conf
conf

In alsa.conf I had comment pcm lines:
usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf

IF I do sam test speaker or microphone, it work perfectly !
BUT, with my assistant:

Sam service log:

This assistant run on another rapberry without problem.(but respeaker-6-mic-array).

I had read all I found on this subject since 2 weeks…
Please, help me.

Hey @Tengu,

We’ve figured it out!

The MATRIX kernel modules were recently updated to change the name of the sound card from “MATRIXIO SOUND” to “MATRIXIO-SOUND” as you will see when you do arecord -l.

Unfortunately, we overlooked that all our Snips guides use the old name of the MATRIX sound card as you can see in your screenshot of /etc/snips.toml.

The fix is just changing the line

mike = “MATRIXIO SOUND: - (hw:1,0)”

to

mike = “MATRIXIO-SOUND: - (hw:1,0)”

The dash is all it was missing, sigh. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will be updating all of our guides!

Best,
Samreen
