Turn off Blue Status LEDS on top of Creator and bottom

Is there a way to turn off the blinking blue status LEDs on top of the Creator and the Bottom of the Creator. At night when the creator is turned on they light the room up, and this makes the board an annoyance to use at night.

+1 on this one, it is quite irritating and should be made possible to turn off

Is there any update on this. This would be fantastic to be able to turn off.

I think the bottom led is for power, so I don’t think you can turn it off.
The blinking one (D48) is controlled by the MCU and can be easily shut down.

Read this doc to know how to get and compile the MCU firmware : https://matrix-io.github.io/matrix-documentation/matrix-hal/components/Sam3/
I recommend using the yc/improve_yaw branch as the master branch doesn’t work in my case.
git checkout yc/improve_yaw

Then, edit the main.cpp file and comment the following 3 lines :

palSetPad(IOPORT3, 17);
palClearPad(IOPORT3, 17);

see here : https://github.com/matrix-io/matrix-creator-mcu/blob/yc/improve_yaw/creator/main.cpp#L124

I’m using a Matrix Voice Standard and would like to turn the blue power led at the bottom off aswell. Is there any update on this problem?

Hi @Mondmonarch,

The blue LED at the bottom of the MATRIX Voice is directly wired to power and ground in the PCB and so cannot be programmatically controlled.

You could try covering it up with black electrical tape if it is a major nuisance but that is all I can advise at the moment. Apologies for any inconvenience!

nao’s link doesn’t work anymore (which is understandable after two years). Can someone point me in the right direction if I want to turn of the blue lights at the top: D48, D49 and D50?

Hi @tjoskar,

You can use this guide to disable D48 through the MCU.

I think the other ones, D49 and D50, need simple FPGA code mods. Let me check on those and get back to you.

Thanks @Samreen! I will take a look.
